On Monday night, more than 800 guests attended The Fragrance Foundation’s annual FiFi Awards—considered the “Oscars” of the fragrance industry—in New York City.
Actress and comedian Jane Lynch hosted the event, and her opening included this funny remark: “I’m honored to be here tonight to serve as your host. Selecting me as host makes perfect sense because when you think of a sexy, delicate and floral fragrance, you think ‘Jane Lynch.’’’
In all, 27 crystal FiFi Awards were handed out as well as a touching Legacy of Excellence tribute to Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder. The 2012 Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award went to Justin Bieber, and Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was the 2012 Hall of Fame Award recipient.

There’s also a “give back” element to the 2012 FiFi Awards celebration via an online auction that runs through May 31. Proceeds will benefit two charities supported by Lynch: the National Center for Lesbian Rights, an organization committed to advancing the civil and human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families through litigation, public-policy advocacy and public education; and Adopt the Arts—which she has been instrumental in organizing—with a mission to bring together well-known artists and public figures to save the arts in America’s public schools.
I have to wrap this up now … I want to go bid on those four Mets-Yankees tickets (and a parking pass) for the 1:10 p.m. June 24 “Subway Series” game at Citi Field!
