Andis Co. has received a Wellness Council of America—aka WELCOA—national Well Workplace designation. The recognition is presented to organizations that demonstrate their commitments to protecting and enhancing the health and well-being of their employees.
“We are proud to have received this designation,” says Matt K. Andis, president of Andis Co., which supplies products to the professional-beauty industry. “The process of completing the application was extremely useful in uncovering ways of reducing health risks for all of our employees. We will continue to strive for new and better ways to promote the well-being of our employees.”
WELCOA uses seven benchmarks to judge an organization’s efforts, allocating points to each area. The benchmarks are capturing CEO support; creating cohesive wellness teams; collecting data to drive health efforts; crafting an operating plan; choosing appropriate interventions; creating a supportive environment; and consistently evaluating outcomes. Andis scored nearly 177 out of a possible 180 points.
The Omaha, Nebraska-based nonprofit, WELCOA, was established as a national organization in the mid 1980s and has worked to influence workplace wellness in the United States through its dedication to improving the health and well-being of all working Americans. It currently has a membership in excess of 3,200 organizations and has recognized nearly 700 organizations as some of America’s healthiest companies since 1991.
