Largest Retailer of Professional Haircare Products in Canada Joins Forces with ONCAP to Help Accelerate Growth

Intrepid Investment Bankers, a leading middle-market investment bank, announced July 17 the acquisition of its client, Chatters Canada—the largest retailer of professional haircare products in Canada and one of the largest hair-salon operators in that country—by ONCAP, the middle-market private-equity platform of Onex Corp., in partnership with the existing management team. The investment is being made by ONCAP III.

Skinfix Merges With SweetSpot LABS

Skinfix—a Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-based supplier that markets itself as the expert in natural, clinically-proven, skincare solutions for the whole family and debuted its brand in the United States last year—has merged with SweetSpot LABS—a Culver City, California-based line of feminine skin care designed by women for women that uses natural ingredients.

Consumers Buy More Online in Winter

An average of 34% of consumers buy more online in winter than at other times of the year, according to the participants of a survey conducted by One Hour Translation in eight key world markets during the latter half of January 2015. Winter is defined as January and February in seven countries; June, July and August in Australia.

NYX Cosmetics announced Aug. 29 it has expanded its retail partnership with Target to more than 1,000 doors across North America. That followed positive reaction to its entry in Target’s Canadian market as well as an extremely successful test launch domestically.

The Kirschner Group has announced record sales in Canada for 2012. The manufacturers’ rep firm—which represents professional-beauty brands globally—also reports that it grew Helen of Troy sales in Canada 24% for the year.
