Congressman Sessions Introduces The Safe Cosmetics Modernization Act

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) introduced H.R. 4075, The Safe Cosmetics Modernization Act, Nov. 18.

"This legislation reforms and improves the Food and Drug Administration’s ability to streamline and strengthen consumer safety requirements without strangling small businesses in the cosmetic industry with onerous regulations," said Sessions, who is Chairman of the House Rules Committee.

Federal Bill Introduced on Oversight of Personal-Care Products

On April 20, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) and U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) introduced the Personal Care Products Safety Act, which they say will protect consumers and streamline industry compliance by strengthening the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s authority to regulate ingredients in personal-care products.

ICMAD Moves to New Headquarters

ICMAD has moved to new headquarters in Deer Park, IL

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors is now in a new headquarters in Illinois. The trade association's new address is 21925 Field Parkway, Suite 205, Deer Park, IL 60010.

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors’ seventh annual CITY (Cosmetic Innovator of The Year) Awards took place June 20 at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.

Fourteen winners were selected by a panel of industry experts who cast their votes based on innovative products, packaging, and advertising/marketing concepts from 2011.
