Millennial, Gen Z Consumers Spend for Back-To-School

In order to understand the way influential Millennial and Gen Z consumers shop during the all-important back-to-school season, Teen Vogue and the International Council of Shopping Centers partnered to explore and identify how malls, the Web and social media factor into their retail experiences, as well as how much they plan to spend, their reasons for shopping in-store versus online and more. 

According to the online survey, which yielded more than 1,000 responses from Teen Vogue's IT GIRL panel:

Consumers Spend Big For Mother's Day

Beauty retailers look out: Families this year are ready to splurge for Mother's Day, according to the National Retail Federation’s 2015 Mother’s Day Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics.

Americans will spend an average of $173 on mom this year, up nearly $10 from $163 last year and the highest amount in the survey’s 12-year history. Total spending is expected to reach $21.2 billion.

Fewer Women Shopped for Beauty in 2014

The vast majority of U.S. women—eight out of 10—shop for beauty products, but a 4% drop in 2014 brought the industry to its lowest level of shoppers since 2008, according to the Annual Beauty Consumer Economic Indicator, the latest beauty report from global information company The NPD Group.
