I’ll be at two exciting Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association events at The Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach, California, later this week.
I’ll have opportunities to network with many top West Coast beauty executives and VIPs across numerous product categories in an atmosphere quite different than the loud hustle and bustle of a major cash-and-carry salon-industry trade show or the constant grind of yet another busy Cosmoprof North America.
On Thursday, I’ll be learning about the latest issues that affect beauty businesses at ICMAD’s Seventh Annual Cosmetic Technical Regulatory Forum. The all-day forum will begin at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast; it starts at 9 a.m.
“The forum is beneficial because it brings together a dynamic and diverse group of speakers sharing valuable insight, helping beauty entrepreneurs better manage the complex product regulations our industry faces,” says Pamela Jo Busiek, ICMAD president and CEO.
Experts include David Steinberg of Steinberg & Associates, who will speak on import/export issues; Carl Geffken of Carl Geffken Consultants and Jean-Jacques Bourgois of Biorius, who will discuss the European Union; and Sharon Blinkoff of Venable Group and Craig Weiss of Consumer Product Testing Co., who will explain the new sunscreen rules.
There’s a two-tiered pricing structure (for members of ICMAD and it sister organizations as well as for nonmembers). Lunch is provided. For more information, call 800.334.2623 or visit ICMAD's website.
On Friday, in a charity event benefiting Look Good…Feel Better, I’ll be trying to get healthier by participating in one or more of celebrity trainer Kathy Kaehler’s sessions and maybe get a discounted manicure (courtesy of Orly International). This first-time ever Get With It ... Get Healthy event is an all-day program to help attendees adopt a fit, organized way of life that’s compatible with today’s hectic lifestyles. Gee, I know I need that! Spend a fun day there—and bring a guest or two. Tickets are open to the public.
Kaehler will offer three sessions, with the first one starting at 10 a.m.: “Let’s Work It Out,” “Get Organized” and “Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle.” In addition to the manicures, at a beauty bar there will also be nail art (courtesy of Young Nails), mini facials (courtesy of Murad), brow shaping
(courtesy of Chella Skin Care) and airbrushing (courtesy of TEMPTU). Each service is $20 and will benefit the charity. Arrive early to book appointments on-site.
Guests can also bid on an array of silent-auction items on Friday there and via phone. Check out these details.
Attendees may participate in one or more sessions; a discounted price is available for the three-session package. Lunch is provided. For more information, call 800.334.2623 or visit this special website.
