The Fragrance Foundation is relaunching “Basic Selling Skills for Fragrance” as part of its online education series. The course was developed with part-time sales associates and those who are new to the fragrance category in mind.
“The goal of the program, generously underwritten by Procter & Gamble Prestige, is to provide information absolutely essential to selling fragrance,” said Mary Ellen Lapsansky, vice president of The Fragrance Foundation and the guiding hand of all of its educational programs. “It’s a win-win for everyone when a sales associate has the skill set to understand fragrance, entice the consumer and close the sale.”
Program organizers seek to instill confidence, knowledge and fragrance-selling techniques into its participants. The latest format of the program offers a study guide with chapters on the history of fragrance, the making of fragrance, ingredients, definitions and how-to-close-the sale info. It also provides a 20-question multiple-choice test that is instantly graded upon completion and, with a passing score, leads directly to a printable certificate of accomplishment. The program was updated in 2012 at the direction of the Foundation’s Certification Advisory Board.
