Steve Hockett has been promoted to executive vice president, chief operations officer at Great Clips. Hockett was senior vice president of operations. With the promotion, Hockett will lead Great Clips’ growth initiatives on same-salon sales and customer counts.
In addition, Hockett will work closely on continuing the expansion of the Great Clips brand in existing markets and strengthening Great Clips’ geographic footprint across North America. He will also provide executive leadership to the operations, business services, marketing, communications, facilities, and information technologies departments within Great Clips.
Currently, Minneapolis-based Great Clips has more than 3,200 salons throughout the United States and Canada. Great Clips salons employ nearly 30,000 stylists. Established in 1982, Great Clips markets itself as the world's largest salon brand with value-priced, high-quality hair care for men, women and children.
With nearly 20 years of experience in franchising, Hockett first worked with Great Clips from 1993 to 2002 before leaving to become president of FranChoice, where he was responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership for the largest franchise broker/candidate referral network.
He then took the helm at Rapid Refill, and led its growth from less than 40 units to more than 100—making the company the No. 2 franchise player in the ink and toner-replacement category.
Hockett returned to Great Clips in May 2008 as vice president of operations.
He was promoted to senior vice president of operations in 2011, where he led both the operations department and the marketing and communications department.
