NYIGF: American-Made Is in Demand

American-made products are in demand, according to the interest shown by nearly 25% of registrants for the winter 2012 New York International Gift Fair scheduled for Jan. 28-Feb. 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

“More than 400 of NYIGF’s [more than] 2,800 exhibitors identify themselves as producers of ‘Made in the USA’ products,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “NYIGF presents an ideal sourcing opportunity for retailers seeking American-made products across the gift, home and lifestyle spectrum."

The show has made two online tools available to buyers seeking U.S.-produced merchandise at NYIGF: the Search NYIGF.com tool on the NYIGF.com website, and the free NYIGF Wayfinder app for mobile devices. Users can sort search results by product category, NYIGF division and/or NYIGF venue. Searches can also be saved and updated in real time, created into a walking list, displayed on a floor plan and accessed via mobile devices.

NYIGF’s Handmade division features more than 100 American designers/makers of Made in America products. Furthermore, there will be 65 first-time exhibitors that will be showcasing Made in America products across NYIGF’s 10 divisions. The largest concentration of them will be presented within New York’s Newest—a showcase of cross-category exhibitors new to NYIGF, with nearly 10% of the division’s 250 exhibitors offering American-made items at the Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 92.
