Target Corp. announced Aug. 6 an agreement to acquire the DermStore Beauty Group. The acquisition positions Target to expand its share of the rapidly evolving online beauty market and will further differentiate the company’s offerings in this important retail segment.

Target Increases Its Beauty Concierge Program From 28 Stores to 200 Stores

The Target Beauty Concierge program—which originally launched with 28 stores in the Chicago area during July 2012—recently expanded in the Chicago area (to a total of 41, including the closing of some original sites) and moved into Los Angeles and Orange County in Southern California (96). It will reach Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Baltimore (27) on June 28 and the Minneapolis area (36) on July 19.

Target Offers Mixed Chicks Hair Care

Mixed Chicks hair care has begun a launch into 350-plus Target stores and in July will be expanding to more than 700 locations as well as on Target.com, the company says.

Target becomes the first mass retailer to offer the entire Mixed Chicks collection of cruelty-free and vegan natural products—which are specially formulated for multi-textured hair.
